PT2399 vs CD2399: echo / delay processor alternative for guitar pedals and karaoke
CD2399 from I-CORE is a functional equivalent of the Princeton PT2399 echo processor: CMOS, built-in ADC/DAC and 44K memory, VCO-adjustable delay, DIP-16 and SOP-16.
The Princeton Technology PT2399 is the classic digital echo chip in karaoke machines and DIY delay pedals. I-CORE makes a functional equivalent, the CD2399, in DIP-16 and SOP-16. This page summarises what matches and what to check.

Can CD2399 replace PT2399?
CD2399 uses the PT2399 pin functions (VCC, REF, AGND, DGND, CLK-O, VCO, current-control, two op-amps and two low-pass filter sections), so existing PT2399 circuits are the normal starting point. Delay range versus VCO resistor, noise and clock behaviour can differ slightly between suppliers, so listen-test samples in your circuit.
Where it is used
Karaoke and microphone echo, guitar delay pedals, toys and consumer audio.
FAQ
- Is CD2399 pin-compatible with PT2399?
- It follows the PT2399 16-pin function assignment in DIP-16 and SOP-16. Check the pin table in the CD2399 datasheet against your layout.
- What supply does CD2399 need?
- A 5 V class supply: 4.5–5.5 V.
